Andy Gustafson, PT, OMT, ATC, FAAOMPT

Andy Gustafson received his Master of Science degree from the University of the Pacific, Stockton, CA in 1992.  Prior to entering physical therapy, he was a strength and conditioning coach at the University of Oregon.  He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biomechanics from the University of Oregon.  While working as a physical therapist, Mr. Gustafson was the athletic trainer for St. Mary’s High School in Stockton, CA for four years.  Mr. Gustafson’s post-graduate training includes the year long Orthopedic Manual Therapy course in 1993 and 1996 at Folsom Physical Therapy, Folsom, CA.  He completed a twelve month full time clinical residency at Folsom Physical Therapy in Orthopedic Manual Therapy in 1997.  He assisted in teaching the OMT year long course in 1997 in Folsom, CA.  Mr. Gustafson was formally tested by Olaf Evjenth in the Kaltenborn-Evjenth System and received his OMT Level II (Orthopedic Manipulative Therapist) certification in 1999.  As such, he is the only certified therapist in the Kaltenborn-Evjenth System in the state of Alabama.  Mr. Gustafson is a Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists.  He founded and is Director of the Institute of Rehabilitation and Training which has an Orthopedic Manual Therapy Fellowship.  In addition, Mr. Gustafson received his Instructor credential in the Kaltenborn-Evjenth Concept of OMT from Olaf Evjenth in 2004.  In addition, he was appointed to the State of Alabama Board of Physical Therapy for 2 terms. Mr. Gustafson was Chair of the Board for 2 ½ years.  In his tenure as Chair, he was responsible for the first piece of legislation passed for the Board in over 25 years.  He has been an adjunct faculty for Huntingdon College since 2011.  He continues to teach in continuing education courses for the profession.
